As the Owens Foundation celebrates its 40th anniversary, it is pleased to announce the appointment of Katie (Owens) Mulcahy as Executive Director. A longtime member of the Foundation's leadership team, Mulcahy will lead the Foundation's strategic direction and community partnerships while advancing its mission of creating opportunity through trust-based philanthropy and collaboration. 

This article highlights how Cara Collective, a Chicago-based nonprofit founded by Tom Owens, helps people affected by poverty gain workforce skills, secure quality jobs, and build long-term employment through training, coaching, and employer partnerships. Over nearly three decades, Cara has placed thousands of people into jobs, with retention rates above national averages.

The Owens Foundation is honored to partner in Reclaiming Chicago, an initiative focused on building 1,000 homes on the South Side and 1,000 on the West Side.
